We recommend wellness exams every 12 months, with more frequent exams for young and elderly patients.

Regular exams are an important part of preventative health, allowing our veterinarians to screen for common health problems before your pet begins to show signs of illness.

Problems such as diabetes, cancer, arthritis and heart disease may be detected early, with prompt treatment offering a better quality of life for your pet.

Please be prepared to answer questions about your pet's daily routine, eating and bathroom habits and let us know if you have noticed anything out of the ordinary.

We also recommend checking a fecal sample for intestinal worms on a regular basis.

Senior pets should have routine blood work and urinalysis.Younger pets can also benefit from these procedures to establish a baseline for future comparison.

Dogwood Pet Hospital has recently adopted a three-year vaccine protocol. Your pet is still fully protected but the risk of post vaccine reactions is reduced.

We will discuss your pet's lifestyle and recommend a vaccine protocol specific to your pet.
